Cam Grove Photography » Australian Wedding Stories

I’ve never been one for New Year’s resolutions, however around this time each year I promise myself that I will blog more of the incredible weddings that I shoot each season. In keeping with this non resolution style promise, Camillo and Yasmine’s beautiful Campbell Point House wedding can now be found here. It was a pleasure to shoot at one of Victoria’s most iconic boutique wedding locations and an even greater delight to be able to capture the day’s events for such a generous and loving couple as Cam and Yas.

I honestly can’t believe that it is December already! Where has this year gone? I’ve just returned from an incredible day shooting Josh and Franki’s Great Ocean Road Wedding. It was a very tender and intimate affair, held at the picturesque Wongarra Truffle Farm. After the ceremony, we walked the length and breadth of the farm. We explored the hazlenut trees with their attendant pigs, and took in some majestic oceanic views. Finally we headed down to Skenes Creek for a few more shots before returning to the farm for some delicious in house catering. What a great day! We are truly lucky to enjoy a region like the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, the photographic opportunities are endless. And I myself have been fortunate enough to shoot quite a few weddings down that way recently. Aisha and Virginia’s Lorne Wedding still rates as one of my all time favourites.

As we quickly approach the end of the year I’ve been looking back at the 36 weddings I’ve shot so far. It’s impossible to not feel grateful for the continued faith and trust shown to me by my clients. I have so many great memories from 2016, and have enjoyed so many varied weddings and celebrations. The thought, effort and creativity that alot of you put into your planning is staggering! To all my 2017 clients, I can’t wait to share in your day. I look forward to capturing all of the happiness and excitement as you continue the next part of your journeys. It’s already looking like being a huge year (beginning with yet another Great Ocean Road wedding) , and it feels quite strange to already have bookings for 2018. But then, that’s the nature of the game! Have a fantastic Holiday season, and thank you for your support.

I’ve had this past weekend off, and I enjoyed the respite. I spent Saturday in the city, gallery hopping with my 6 year old. I stumbled past weddings in full flight, seeing some familiar faces in the midst of their working days. To be honest, I felt a little sorry for them. Don’t get me wrong – I love shooting weddings. And I’m ever so grateful for the lifestyle that it affords me. But I also love those rare opportunities to put the camera down, and to be completely present in my children’s lives. Unfortunately it all goes so quickly!

I still have 7 weddings and an engagement shoot before I can close the book on 2016. I’m looking forward to each of them, a few in particular should be incredible. But they’ll have to pull out all the stops to top Silvio and Mel’s absolutely amazing Luminare Wedding last Saturday. I’ve shot Luminare Weddings before. Last year I shot Leo and Adele’s Luminare Wedding and was treated to an epic rainbow and incredible pink sunset. Could I be that lucky twice? You bet. I dragged Sliv and Mel out onto the deck just moments before the heavens opened and caught the last of the day’s light.

It was a long day for me. But it was made all the easier by having Ryan and Mark from Moon and Back Films along for the ride. I love working with those boys. It’s always great to share the day with like minded creatives! And to be honest, when I get home and find images like these waiting to be downloaded and shared with the couple, it makes every moment worth it…
